Senior High Youth
Logos Senior High includes ninth through twelfth grade students. We meet on Wednesday night each week from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM during the school year. We stay in keeping with the Logos 4-part plan.
Worship skills are from 7:00-7:15. The senior highs are ushers and candle lighters during the Christmas Eve service. The senior high students led the Good Friday Service in 2007 and will do so again in 2008. We participated in the Lenten Services in 2007 and will do so again in 2008.
From 7:15-8:15, students are involved in spiritual growth and study. Brad Magness leads worship study time. The students and co-directors are grateful for Brads involvement as there has been so much learned. Because of Brads knowledge and ability to share the Word, when 8:15 arrives, no one is in a hurry to get to snack/activity time. Many nights, we stay long past 9:00 PM.
The evening concludes with snacks and activities. This years class enjoys board games or games of just about any kind: Apples to Apples and Catch Phrase are two favorites. In the past, weve had groups that like action games (ping pong, foosball, etc) much better than board games.
We were offered a new fundraiser in 2007. We made cotton candy during the Shrine Circus. It was an exhausting day, but a rewarding one too. We earned over $300 for a days work; a long, hard days work. We continue to sell Gods Creation calendars, which earns about $150 for our account.
In 2007, the senior highs tried something new. We held a Valentines Day dinner for couples in our church. It was a huge success and so many people helped, it was a wonderful evening. Special thanks go to Mark Neuharth and the members of the band that played. They not only played at no charge, they donated their tips to the senior high students!!! Also a huge debt of gratitude to Oliver and Lavonne Nicholas. They came every Wednesday night for several weeks and gave dance lessons. It was such a wonderful event. Lots and lots of work, but worth every aching bone and muscle. We did it again in 2008. What a awesome event.
We are very grateful for the financial assistance the congregation gives us by supporting our fundraisers and also for those who give us gifts of money.
In March 2007, we sent 9 students to the annual Presbyterian Youth Rally in Pierre. It is a great time of fellowship, learning and interaction with youths from throughout South Dakota. We were able to pay for the students enrollment fee because of the support we receive from our congregation.
